Flowers are the oldest subject in art — which is exactly why they’re so easy to paint badly. I take the opposite approach: my original floral paintings are loud, modern, and unapologetically colourful, closer to a contemporary abstract than a soft botanical study.

I paint flowers the way I paint mountains and coastline: heightened colour, confident shapes, and a graphic, contemporary eye.
