Lake Louise Flock

Lake Louise is the most painted place in this country, and that is exactly the problem I set myself with this one. I did not want the postcard.

I painted it square — 20 by 20 — and that was deliberate. A square will not let your eye run off sideways the way a wide canvas does; it holds you in one spot. This is a painting of a moment at that lake rather than a view of it.
