Mount Rundle Peak

Mount Rundle Peak, 24” x 12”, Original Latex-Acrylic on Canvas, Satin Varnish Finish, Banff Alberta Canada, 2026.

Rundle lies right down across the valley, so I painted it wide and low. A taller canvas would have cut that ridgeline in half. Latex-acrylic, brushed and layered until the rock face holds its own light, with the autumn scrub along the water carrying the warm side of it. Finished in satin varnish, so the surface stays soft under a lamp rather than glossy.

Rundle has stood through everything this valley has thrown at it, and that is really the subject — not the outline of a mountain but something built by nature to outlast every season it has ever seen. The fall colour is the counterpoint: the temporary sitting against the permanent.
