Moraine Lake is the painting I keep coming back to, and this time I stood the canvas upright. The lake wants height — the peaks stack over the water, and the trees on both sides do the framing. I laid the rock in flat angled slabs, cool grey with a band of pink where the late light hits the face, and worked the water from turquoise down to a deep blue, dragging pale streaks across it for the wind. It is painted in latex-acrylic with brushes, the canvas weave left showing in places, and signed lower left. The original is hanging at Art Country Canada in Canmore while it waits for its wall.
